This course supersedes HLTAID001 Provide CPR
Upon successful completion of the CPR training course, participants will receive:
- Nationally accredited Statement of Attainment with Provide CPR HLTAID009 unit of competency
The CPR training course provides the knowledge and skills to successfully perform required cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
This training course covers how to:
- Respond in an emergency
- Perform correct techniques in CPR procedures
- An overview of causes in disruption to airways
- Minimise risk of and protect oneself from infections
- Communicate the details of the incident
The course is applicable to all parties that may be required to provide CPR in a wide range of situations including community and workplace settings.
Provide CPR training consists of PowerPoint presentation, practical activities, video and end of the day assessment.
CPR Training expiration period
Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) HLTAID009 certificates must be renewed every 12 months and is therefore only valid for 1 year from date of issue.
STATEMENT OF TRAINING CAN NOT BE ISSUED IF A PARTICIPANT FAILS TO PROVIDE A VALID USI NUMBER
From 1 January 2015, every student who undertakes nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET) in Australia is required to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).
USI can be obtained via online application through USI portal https://www.usi.gov.au
The Unique Student Identifier (USI) is a reference made up of 10 numbers and letters. It creates a secure online record of student’s recognised training and qualification gained in Australia and allows to access training records and transcripts.
Online Pre-Study Module
STATEMENT OF ATTAINMENT WILL NOT BE ISSUED if a participant does not complete the online pre-study module.
Participants must complete the online pre-study module. It covers the theoretical part of CPR training.
The link to the online pre-study will be provided in the confirmation email after completing the course booking.
Attendance
Participants are required to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to class start time to complete necessary registration paperwork.
ENTRY TO THE COURSE WILL BE REFUSED IF PARTICIPANTS ARRIVES 15 MINUTES AFTER THE SCHEDULED STARTING TIME
Identification
STATEMENT OF ATTAINMENT WILL NOT BE ISSUED IF PARTICIPANT DOES NOT PROVIDE A VALID FORM OF ID
Participants are required to provide 1 form of photo ID (e.g. passports, driver’s licence, VIC photo ID card, student card)
Intermediate Understanding of English Language
PARTICIPANTS WILL BE REFUSED CLASS ENTRY IF BASIC ENGLISH REQUIREMENTS AREN’T MET.
The class consists of reading and understanding training materials and PowerPoint presentation, participating verbally in group activities and completing written assessments. Therefore, all participants are required to have a basic comprehension of reading and writing in English to successfully complete the CPR training course.
Use of interpreters or translators is not allowed.
ENTRANCE INTO THE CLASS WILL BE BASED ON THE OUTCOME OF THE LANGUAGE, LITERACY AND NUMERACY (LLN) TEST.
The LLN test consists of a series of simple questions to determine the level of participant’s language, literacy and numeracy. LLN test is available to all participants.
Physical Ability to Perform CPR
According to the Unit of Competency requirements, to successfully complete this course, a person needs to be physically able to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.
