Certificate IV WHS Sydney

All workplace safety representatives are required to obtain a certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety training. This certificate is also sometimes referred to as cert 4 OHS or WHS. This certificate is usually seen as the minimum prerequisite for anyone in a workplace safety position.

The Cert IV is a very well-respected course and can open many doors, even though it may not be as in-depth as a diploma. This course gives learners a good foundation for their knowledge of WHS compliance. Anyone in a supporting role in workplace health and safety could benefit greatly from this course.

This in-person workplace health and safety course gives all participants a strong foundation of knowledge, and the necessary accreditation, to hold supporting positions in workplace health and safety compliance.

Course Details

Cert IV WHS training course consists of 5 days of face-to-face classroom-based training. Students are expected to complete readings and a project/written assessment task in their own time. Following the topics and units of competency will be covered:

BSBWHS415 Contribute to implementing WHS management systems

BSBWHS417  Assist with managing WHS implications of return to work
Day 4BSBWHS418 Assist with managing WHS compliance of contractors
BSBWHS419 Contribute to implementing WHS monitoring processes
Day 5BSBCMM411 Make presentations
BSBLDR411 Demonstrate leadership in the workplace
Course Duration

This qualification is broken up into Five (5) clusters each consisting of Two (2) units per cluster.

This qualification structure consists of Five (5) days face to face training which equates to 35 hours of face to face learning (course runs on a 9.00am-5.00pm basis with (1) one hour of breaks during the day). Students are expected to complete readings and a project/written assessment task in their own time.

Students will be given up to 12 months to complete their final written assessments/project.

Students will have access to 24hr support from trainers and assessors through phone and email contact. Trainers also conduct ongoing assessment check-in and support throughout the duration of the course.

Course Requirements

To complete this course you’ll need:

  • A Laptop or Tablet  You’ll need a laptop or tablet to go through the course materials. It doesn’t really matter which type or model, as long as it is in working condition and is WiFi enabled.
  • Good Attendance It is recommended that everyone partaking in the course arrive 15 to 30 minutes early to get all of the registration paperwork done. Anyone arriving after 30 minutes will be refused entry.
  • Identification Ensure that all participants bring a valid ID, driver’s or student card so that they can identify themselves. No ID, no qualification.
  • Read and Write in English In order to complete this course, all participants must have at least a basic understanding of the English language.

ENTRANCE INTO THE CLASS WILL DEPEND ON THE RESULTS OF THE LANGUAGE, LITERACY AND NUMERACY (LLN) TEST.

The LLN test consists of a series of simple questions to determine the level of participant’s language, literacy and numeracy. LLN test is available to all participants.

NB: USI Requirement

STATEMENT OF TRAINING CAN NOT BE ISSED IF A PARTICIPANT FAILS TO PROVIDE A VALID USI NUMBER

Any student participating in VET education in Australia, which is nationally recognised, is required to have their own USI.

USI can be obtained via online application through USI portal https://www.usi.gov.au

The Unique Student Identifier (USI) is a reference consisting of 10 letters and numbers. It creates a secure online record of student’s recognised training and qualification gained in Australia and allows access to relevant records and transcripts.
