This course supersedes Provide Advanced First Aid HLTAID006.
Advanced First Aid training includes Provide CPR HLTAID009, Provide Basic Emergency Life Support HLTAID010 and Provide First Aid HLTAID011.
Please note, Provide Advanced Resuscitation HTLAID015 is no longer run in combo with Advanced First Aid on the same date and requires a separate booking. Upon successful completion of the first aid training, participants will receive:
- Nationally accredited Statement of Attainment with HLTAID009, HLTAID010, HLTAID011 and HLTAID014 units of competency
Advanced First Aid training is designed for incident and accident responders, child and elderly carers, site incident and accident staff, security staff and defence personnel. Advanced First Aid training course provides knowledge and skills on how to:
- Respond to an emergency situation
- Apply appropriate first aid procedures (including CPR)
- Coordinate first aid activities until arrival of medical assistance
- Communicate details of the incident
- Evaluate the incident and own performance
During advanced first aid training, participants also learn how to use equipment such as defibrillators, oxygen tanks, back boards and stretchers, epi-pens and asthma puffers and other apparatus.
Advanced first aid training consists of PowerPoint presentation, practical activities and end of the day assessment.
Advanced First Aid Training expiration period
Advanced First Aid certificate has an expiration date. To stay current and valid:
- Provide First Aid HLTAID011 and Provide Advanced First Aid HLTAID014 units need to be refreshed every 3 years
- Provide CPR HLTAID009 needs to be refreshed every 12 months
STATEMENT OF ATTAINMENT WILL NOT BE ISSUED IF PARTICIPANT DOES NOT COMPLETE THEORY ONLINE PRE-STUDY MODULE
Participants must complete online pre-study module. It covers theoretical part of the first aid training. It takes 1-3 hours to complete.
The link to the online pre-study will be provided in the confirmation email after completing the course booking.
STATEMENT OF TRAINING CAN NOT BE ISSUED IF A PARTICIPANT FAILS TO PROVIDE A VALID USI NUMBER
From 1 January 2015, every student who undertakes nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET) in Australia is required to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).
USI can be obtained via online application through USI portal https://www.usi.gov.au
The Unique Student Identifier (USI) is a reference made up of 10 numbers and letters. It creates a secure online record of student’s recognised training and qualification gained in Australia and allows to access training records and transcripts.
Attendance
ENTRY TO THE COURSE WILL BE REFUSED IF PARTICIPANT ARRIVES 15 MINUTES AFTER THE SCHEDULED STARTING TIME
We highly recommend arriving 15 minutes prior to the start of the course to complete necessary registration paperwork.
Identification

Participants are required to provide 1 form of photo ID (e.g. passports, driver’s licence, NSW photo ID card, student card)
Be Physically Mobile
During Advanced First Aid training participants are required complete practical activities. Therefore a competent level of mobility is required.
Intermediate Understanding of English Language
THE TRAINER RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE CLASS ENTRY BASED ON THE OUTCOME OF THE LANGUAGE, LITERACY AND NUMERACY (LLN) TEST
First Aid course involves reading and understanding training materials and PowerPoint presentation, verbally participating in group activities and completing written assessments.
Therefore, to successfully complete advanced first aid training, a basic level of understanding, reading and writing English is required.
LLN test consists of the serious of simple questions to determine level of participant’s language, literacy and numeracy. LLN test is available to all participants. Entry to the class will depend on results of LLN test.
Physical Ability to Perform CPR
According to the Unit of Competency requirements, to successfully complete this course, a person needs to be physically able to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.
