White Card certificate courses are a fundamental need if your career passion lies in the built environment industry as an artisan, contractor, supervisor or manager. Any tradesperson who accesses an operational construction site will need to be accompanied by a White Card certificate holder or carry a White Card themselves.
Which Occupations Need A White Card Certificate?
The following are examples of trades that need a White Card certificate:
- Data cable installers
- Fibre optic installers
- Heavy Machinery Drivers
- Forklift Drivers
- Occupational Health and Safety Officers
In addition to this list, any occupation that requires regular access to working construction sites will need you to carry a White Card certificate.
As a business owner supplying goods to the construction industry, holding a valid White Card certificate could help you expand your sales opportunities.
What Do You Learn In A White Card Certificate Course?
The White Card course training was brought into legislation due to the high accident rates and the ongoing high-risk type of work in the construction industry. People entering the industry will have the fundamental knowledge needed for working in the construction industry, such as:
- Work health and safety
- Legislative requirements around construction site health and safety
- Construction hazards to be aware of
- Control measures to reduce safety risks
- How to communicate health and safety risks
- How to report health and safety risks
- How to report an incident
- What procedures to follow in an emergency response
What Is The White Card Certificate Procedure?
The courses are usually presented using PowerPoint, in-class activities and informative videos, and then you will be assessed at the end of the day. There is also a ZOOM option.
When you have completed the White Card certificate course, you will be supplied with a Statement of Attainment and Construction Induction plastic card (White Card), which is recognised nationally.
To attend the course, you will need to be fully vaccinated and the wearing of the face masks is mandatory. Check-in is done using QR codes and a presentation of your COVID-19 digital certificate will be requested. We also accept the presentation of valid medical exceptions.
