The Mental Health First Aid in the Community blended training course is delivered by Edway Training’s, who are approved by MHFA Australia.
- Suitable for individuals, volunteer and community-based groups.

- Skills Development: Equips adults to recognise, understand, and respond to mental health issues in the community.
- Accreditation: Opportunity to become an Accredited Mental Health First Aider (MHFAider) after completing a short assessment, valid for 3 years.
- Program Recognition: Recognised by Suicide Prevention Australia as a safe and effective suicide prevention program.
What will you receive
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive:
- Access to the MHFA assessment
Completion of the short assessment at the end of a course leads to accreditation as a Mental Health First Aider (MHFAider).
What will you learn
Mental Health First Aid in the Community training course covers common and disabling mental health problems and crisis situations.
Learning Outcomes:
- Recognise signs and symptoms of mental health problems in adults.
- Use an action plan to initiate mental health first aid conversations.
- Understand barriers to help-seeking and methods to overcome them.
- Assess and provide initial support in various crisis situations.
- Gain knowledge about the prevalence, impact, risk factors, and treatments for mental illnesses.
- Learn and apply self-care practices as a Mental Health First Aider.
Become a MHFAider
You can complete the short assessment at the end of a course to become an Accredited Mental Health First Aider (MHFAider).

Online Module
The online modules usually takes approximately 5 to 7 hours to complete. You’ll need a device like a laptop, desktop, or tablet.

According to the MHFA Australia requirements any adult (aged 18+) can attend.
