Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) Level 2 training course is delivered and statement of attainment is issued by Edway Training Pty Ltd (RTO 91401).
Edway Training is accredited by Australian Skills and Quality Authority (ASQA) to deliver SITXFSA005 ‘Use hygienic practices for food safety’ and SITXFSA006 ‘Participate in safe food handling practices’ units of competency. These units meet the NSW Food Authority’s training requirements for Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) Level 2 training.
Edway Training is an approved training organisation for the purposes of issuing Food Safety Supervisor certificates (FSS certificates) under s106H of the Food Act 2003 by the NSW Food Authority.

- Food Premises Requirement: In NSW, the requirement for a Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) depends on the type of food business. Not all food premises are required to have a Food Safety Supervisor. Please refer to the NSW Food Authority website for more information.
- Responsibility: In NSW, certain food businesses are required to appoint a Food Safety Supervisor who holds a valid FSS certificate. This individual is responsible for overseeing food safety practices and ensuring compliance with food safety regulations
. - Legal Compliance: Food businesses must comply with the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code, which sets out the requirements for food safety, including the handling, storage, and preparation of food
. - Training and Competency: Businesses involved in food handling must obtain the necessary licenses and ensure that their Food Safety Supervisor holds a current certification, which is recognised by the NSW Food Authority. This certification must be renewed every five years.
- Pre-requisite: There is no training pre-requisite for the units of competency SITXFSA005 and SITXFSA006.
- Minimum Standards: Our training course covers minimum competency standards applicable to hospitality and various retail sectors.
- Personal Information: In compliance with privacy laws, when enrolling in this course your personal information will be provided to the NSW Food Authority.
- NSW FSS Certificates: Successfully completing the NSW FSS grants students the option of receiving a stand-alone FSS certificate with a unique identifying number. This certificate is in addition to statements of attainment provided to the student for completing the national units of competency. The NSW FSS certificate is the legal document required for any individual who is appointed as the Food Safety Supervisor for a business operating in NSW.

What will you learn
The units of competency SITXFSA005 and SITXFSA006 focus on foundational food safety practices. SITXFSA005 emphasises hygienic practices to prevent food contamination, while SITXFSA006 covers safe food handling practices across storage, preparation, and disposal.
Together, they provide an overview of essential food safety measures:
- Adherence to organisational food safety and hygiene procedures.
- Safe storage, preparation, and disposal of food.
- Proper use of single-use items.
- Maintenance of cleanliness in food handling areas.
- Effective personal hygiene to prevent food contamination.
- Reporting of unsafe practices and personal health issues.

Participants must provide one form of photo I.D. (e.g. passport, Australian driver’s licence, NSW proof of age card).
Please note only an international passport is accepted as an non-Australian document. All other forms of I.D. must be issued in Australia.
STATEMENT OF ATTAINMENT WILL NOT BE ISSUED if participants do not provide a valid form of I.D.
Attendance
Participants should arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled starting time of the course to complete the necessary registration paperwork.
ENTRY TO THE COURSE WILL BE REFUSED if participants arrive 15 minutes after the scheduled starting time.
LLN (Language, Literacy and Numeracy)
The basic understanding, reading and writing of English is required.
As part of our pre-training review all students are required to complete an LLN assessment to determine a student’s eligibility for enrolment into their selected course.
All students enrolling into any Edway Training course must have LLN skills to do simple calculations, understand English well enough to be able to read, write, and provide verbal responses to questions in English to undertake training and assessment in any of our courses.

USI (Unique Student Identifier)
From 1 January 2015, every student who undertakes nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET) in Australia is required to have a USI.
STATEMENT OF ATTAINMENT CAN NOT BE ISSUED if a participant fails to produce a valid USI number.
